It's mid-August, 106 degrees or so and I am beginning to think about my garden. I have let it go to weed as I slipped into my annual heat induced coma. But the morning's are a bit cooler so I need to plan the garden. This year I am planting vegetables. This should be interesting, from everything I am reading this process isn't as easy as you would think. Appropriate organic fertilizer, correct watering amount, not to much, not to little. I am hoping for bountiful baskets of veggies.....
Everyone is growing vegetables these days. There is a real interest in fresh, local produce. To many recalls, e-coli scares and the food just doesn't taste as good, let alone the cost to the environment from shipping food from all over the world. Most Americans have no idea about the seasonality of food, not when you can buy apples year around, shipped in from wherever they are growing at that time.
Ah well, off to find my Mary Irish Gardening Book.
